About Us
Christian Action is a charitable organisation with a track record of nearly 25 years working with the most marginalised in society.
Our mission is to help the poor and disadvantaged in Hong Kong and Mainland China, irrespective of race, sex, religion or nationality. Christian Action is a registered charity in Hong Kong (where the headquarters are based), in the US and in the UK.
In Hong Kong our Social and Humanitarian Programmes serve the most marginalised groups in the city, focusing on displaced people. We provide vital services to asylum seekers and refugees, foreign domestic helpers; ethnic minorities, 'cross-border' families and 'new arrivals' from Mainland China.
In China our work is focused on Qinghai Province where, as well as running poverty alleviation programmes, we serve orphaned and abandoned children through children’s homes and rehabilitation centres for disabled children. We opened the first Children’s Home in Qinghai at Xining in 1998 and the first Rehabilitation Centre in 2007.
In 2007 the Qinghai government, impressed with our ten year's work with orphaned and abandoned children, asked us to bring our expertise to start 7 children's homes and rehabilitation centres across the whole province.
